Key points:
- Starlink’s new $80/month Roam 300GB plan offers a compelling middle ground between the 100GB for $50/mo and Unlimited for $165/mo.
- Starlink's website may have inadvertently leaked upcoming and unwelcome changes to international support on all Roam plans.
- Starlink also seems to be considering lowering the price for Roam Unlimited.
Starlink quietly dropped a new Roam plan last night, and it's the kind of plan we've been hoping would come out for a while now.
The new plan offers 300GB of data for $80 a month, making it a significant value right in the sweet spot when positioned against the 100GB plan for $50/month and Roam Unlimited for $165.
But during our research to confirm the terms of the new plan, we also spotted some other less welcome changes that would significantly impact how useful Starlink Roam plans are for international usage.
The changes we screenshotted last night were rolled back this morning, but it is troubling that they were published at all.
Here are the details...

Roam 300GB Plan Details
The Roam 300GB plan appears to have the same terms as the 100GB plan, but it offers an additional 200GB of data for just an extra $30.
The plan is available to new customers choosing either the Mini or Standard dish (and the Starlink website currently shows the promotional $199 price has returned for the Mini).
Additionally, the plan is available for existing users as an option to switch to, though not every customer is seeing it as an option in their account yet.
Just like the 100GB plan, once you hit the data cap on either option - you get unlimited data but at slower speeds suitable for e-mails, calls and TXT.
In motion use up to 100mph is supported, and switching to $5/mo slow-speed Standby mode remain features of all of the Roam plans.
Only Roam Unlimited can have Ocean Mode added at $2/GB for coverage more than 12nm offshore.
International Usage Removal & Unlimited Price Reduction Coming?
While researching this story, we saw Starlink's Roam Plan Support Page FAQ updated with this comparison table:
In this chart, international roaming has been removed from both the 100GB and 300GB plans, and reduced to just 14-days on the Unlimited (with options to pay by the GB).
This would reflect a major rollback of Starlink's support for international roaming with these affordable plans!
Also, the Roam Unlimited Plan was listed as $150/month, instead of the $165/month it's been offered at lately.
We could not find any other references to these changes on Starlink's site, and as we went to finalize and publish this article the chart screenshotted last night has been removed and replaced with this:
The International terms have been removed from the comparison chart, and all references site wide indicate that International Roaming is still allowed up to the standard 60-days - a limit which so far has not been enforced.
Interestingly - the $150/month pricing for the Unlimited plan remains - albeit the $165/month price is showing everywhere else on the Starlink site, including check-out.
We do not know if the chart we found last evening was an error or perhaps a leak of a possible change Starlink is considering.
We will continue to monitor - and would not be surprised to see Starlink move to push international users into more expensive plans, especially after Starlink's new international verification policy requires customers to authenticate with a passport before they can stay connected outside of their home country.
Concluding Thoughts
Starlink continues to keep industry watchers like us here at MIRC, as well as customers, on their toes with sudden, unannounced plan and terms-of-service changes.
Overall, we think the 300GB is great plan that hits a sweet spot for most of our audience of nomads who live, work, or travel in vans, boats, and RVs.
This can easily be combined with a cellular data plan (our Top Picks) to supplement data needs and redundancy, potentially saving many consumers money.
We will continue to monitor for any changes that Starlink might have intended to their International Roaming policy, as the changes we saw last night briefly would be a substantial negative shift for those who cross boarders with Starlink.
