The Family RV Association (formerly The Family Motorcoach Association - FMCA) - offers rental data plans to its members through their Tech Connect+ optional add-on membership benefit.
These plans are only available to FRVA members, you must be an FRVA member in order to sign up. FRVA membership is open to all RV owners and prospective RV owners. There are monthly and annual membership fees.
In the past FRVA has offered plans on each of the three main carriers, but currently they only offer a T-Mobile based plan, Tech Connect+ MAX, which we consider to be one of our Top Pick data plans. They also offer a T-Mobile based phone plan, but that plan does not meet our criteria for coverage (at least 50GB of mobile hotspot data).
General Data Plan Notes:
- All fees on these plans are paid directly to the FRVA as part of their Tech Connect+ membership. The FRVA, not the carrier, administers the plans.
- These are no-contract rental plans. The plans are month-to-month and can be canceled at any time. You can also suspend service for a reduced monthly cost, but only for three months total in any 12-month period.
- To be eligible, you must maintain FRVA membership as long as you have the plan and have at least one year remaining on your membership when you sign up.
- The plan either comes with a device, or you can BYOD.
- If you use their device, there is a one-time activation/rental fee of $39.99, regardless of how long you keep the plan. If the plan is canceled, the device must be returned within 15 days. Failure to return the device results in a $200-$300 administrative fee, depending on the device. Additionally, the device must be returned in its original packaging, or there will be an additional $10.00 fee. The customer is responsible for the shipping cost to return the device.
The Tech Connect+ plans have had a history of occasionally going in and out of stock. Sometimes, this is based on changes to the back-end plan, and sometimes, it's due to updates to FRVA's processing systems. They generally come back in stock within a few weeks. Being out of stock does not necessarily mean the plan is permanently unavailable. If the plan ever does have a permanent change, we will update the information here.
FRVA Tech Connect+ MAX Data Plan Information
The T-Mobile MAX option rolled out in January 2024 and currently includes two variations, both costing $59.99/month:
- A Data-only plan that includes a mobile hotspot device (Currently, the Inseego MIFI Pro X 5G)
- A SIM-only BYOD plan
