Cricket Wireless is a prepaid subsidiary of AT&T, and their Simply Data hotspot device plans have long been one of our Top Pick data plans. They offer 150GB of high speed data for $90/mo or 100GB of high speed data for $55/month.
Cricket has recently rolled out a double data deal on these plans when combined with a prepaid smartphone plan on the same account - allowing 300 or 200GB of data for the same price. Cricket offers smartphone plans ranging from $40-55/month.
There is no indication that this is a limited time promotion, and this is the most data we have seen in a long while offered on a data only device plan. If you don't want a smartphone line with Cricket, the 150 and 100GB plan options remain available.
Cricket data plans can only be activated on their own entry level hotspot device sold online and in stores, and on some compatible AT&T hotspot devices via their BYOD checker.
With this change, we have also noted that Cricket is also offering an unlimited cellular tablet plan that can be added onto a smartphone plan for $15/month.
