AT&T has introduced a new prepaid plan for smartphones called Build-A-Plan.
The plan comes with a base plan for $15/month that includes 1GB of data. You then have the option to add more on-device data, as well as more hotspot data.
The options to add more on-device data are:
- 5GB for $5/month
- 15GB for $10/month
- Unlimited data with SD streaming for $20/month
- Unlimited data with HD streaming for $35/month
The options to add hotspot data are:
- 5GB for $5/month
- 25GB for $15/month
- 50GB for $20/month
You can build out the plan as you choose, depending on what your data needs are. If you choose the Unlimited data with HD streaming option, and also add 50 GB of hotspot data, then your total monthly cost will be $70/month - $15 for the base plan, plus $35 for the unlimited on-device data, plus $20 for the 50GB of hotspot data.
After high-speed data caps are met, speeds are slowed to 128 Kbps. You can add more on-device data if needed (5GB/$8/5 days) but there is no option to add more hotspot data.
These plans are available for smartphones only. They can not be used in hotspots or routers.
The plans are only available online, and include autopay. You must bring your own device, and there is no activation fee.
