Winegard acquired WiFiRanger in 2020, and the combined company offers a series of indoor mobile routers, some of which can complement and pair with a companion rooftop unit.
The product lines all carry Winegard branding, but some products are still from when WiFiRanger was independent and utilize different firmware from Winegard-developed products.
Additionally, Winegard is a big player in the OEM market and sells different RV equipment to manufacturers that are installed at the factory, including some mobile internet gear. Some product lines that were once available in the aftermarket are now only available to OEMs.
Many variants and modem options that were initially available are no longer offered.
Note that Winegard also sells the Air360 rooftop antenna system, intended to be paired with indoor routers designed for that system. Those routers are covered in our Air360 entry.
For an overview of the full product line (and a look at some of the software features in common across different devices), see our gear center entry:

The Aspen router originally offered options for Cat-4, Cat-6, or Cat-12 modems, or no modem, but is currently only sold with the Cat-4 modem. It has an SD Card slot for data collection, and USB 3.0 port to allow tethering cellular devices.

Poplar

The Poplar router is the most basic indoor unit in WiFiRanger's Converge lineup of routers, and was originally designed to pair with a Converge outdoor router (Teton, Denali, or Everest) installed on an RV roof. It began shipping in October 2019.
It utilizes WiFiRanger firmware.
The Poplar router is built with the ability to add an option internal Cat-4 LTE modem, but currently only the non-cellular model is being sold. It also comes with an SD Card slot for data collection, and a USB 2.0 port to allow tethering cellular devices.
In other ways, the Poplar is a very basic router - only supporting 2.4GHz 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4), with no 5GHz Wi-Fi compatibility at all.

Spruce (OEM Only)

The Spruce router was the mid-tier indoor router in WiFiRanger's Converge lineup that began shipping in October 2019 and was one of our Top Picks.
As of mid-2025, Winegard is only selling this router to the OEM market. It uses WiFiRanger firmware.
It offers a slim profile but with robust features and is designed to easily pair with a Converge outdoor router (Teton, Denali, or Everest) installed on an RV roof.
The Spruce has internal Wi-Fi antennas creating a slim design that can tuck into small spaces. But unlike the Poplar and the Aspen, the Spruce does not have an option for an embedded cellular modem. All of its cellular data capability comes via USB tethering, Ethernet, Wi-Fi-as-WAN, or from a paired rooftop Converge unit.

WiFiRanger Product Shortage
Beginning in June 2023, WiFiRanger started moving its product manufacturing. The WiFiRanger store is also merging with the Winegard Store (Winegard acquired WiFiranger in 2020). This has caused a WiFiRanger product shortage during this transition. It's not clear when production and availability of products at the online store will resume.
If you want to buy both indoor and outdoor units, WiFiRanger generally offers package pricing for packs with rooftop units.
Routers can serve as a central conductor of your local area network in your RV and boat. Mobile routers are different from residential routers in that they typically support multiple internet sources like cellular and Wi-Fi, can be powered off of 12v or AC and support external antenna for better receiving signal.
But you might not need a router in your setup. Here's a quick video overview the variety that routers come in:
