Hosting Your Own Peplink SpeedFusion VPN
Sometimes you want Peplink routers in two different locations to communicate with each other. Peplink's SpeedFusion VPN technology makes this possible.
This guide explains how to create a direct site-to-site connection between two Peplink routers using SpeedFusion VPN, also known as PepVPN. Once connected, devices at each location can access resources on the other router's local network. You can also optionally route internet traffic through the router at the other location.
Unlike SpeedFusion Connect or Relay Mode, the routers connect directly without using Peplink's cloud servers, so there are no Peplink per-GB data charges for the tunnel. This direct setup is more involved and requires two compatible Peplink routers.
At least one location must have an internet connection that can accept an incoming connection. This is usually a home or office cable or fiber connection with a public IP address. The address can be static, or you can use dynamic DNS (DDNS) if it changes.
Connections behind carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), which is common with cellular and some fixed-wireless services, normally cannot serve as this reachable location. If neither location can accept an incoming connection, SpeedFusion Relay Mode is generally the easier alternative.
