Glossary Definition for: CDMA

Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is the common name for the IS-95 and CDMA2000 standards for 2G and 3G networks embraced by Verizon and Sprint in the USA.

Unlike GSM, CDMA is not widely deployed around the world and is thus not well suited for international roaming. Most CDMA World Phones actually switch into a GSM mode while roaming.
