Peplink has released its first Wi-Fi 7 access point (AP), the Pepwave AP One Enterprise. The new AP is available now from Peplink distributors for $499.
The AP One Enterprise is the new flagship of Peplink's AP One series and offers advanced Wi-Fi capabilities primarily aimed at enterprise customers who need to serve hundreds of clients in commercial and enterprise settings.
The AP supports Wi-Fi 7, including simultaneous tri-band use across all three Wi-Fi bands, 2.5, 5, and 6 GHz. It doesn't have external antennas but uses 12 internal antennas in a 4x4 MIMO configuration for each band, plus two additional multi-band antennas for scanning.
For connectivity, the new AP has two 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports, one of which is a PoE port that powers the device. The AP One Enterprise can also be powered with a standard 12v AC adapter. Designed to support a large area and a large number of clients (up to 512 per radio), the AP is power hungry with a nominal draw of 37 watts.
As with the other APs in the Pepwave AP One line, the new Enterprise model comes with Peplink's advanced firmware, enabling seamless integration with the Peplink ecosystem.
For our audience of mobile users, the AP One Enterprise is overkill - it's a product designed to serve large areas and hundreds of clients, like a single floor of an office building, or an airport lounge. But it's nice to see that Peplink finally has a Wi-Fi 7 product, and we look forward to more Wi-Fi 7 APs (and routers) in the future that are better suited for mobile users living, traveling, or working in vans, boats, and RVs.
