Fast.com is a speed testing website and app run by Netflix that measures the data speed of video content.
Why measure the speed of video streams?
The reason is the majority of mobile internet data plans place throttles on video streams. Depending on the plan, video content may be throttled to 480p, 720p, 1080p, 4k resolutions or have no throttle at all.
Fast.com is a great way to find out what speed you can expect for video streaming, and it's also useful to compare to a standard speed-testing app to see how much the video throttle is working.
- Application: available on both iOS & Android devices
- Carriers: All
- Generations: 4G, 3G, 2G plus WiFi
- Retail Price: Free
We use this app frequently to test video streaming speeds.
