Winegard is launching a new indoor router called the Basestation 5G, which is available for preorder with shipping expected the week of Sept. 22nd, 2025. The price is $799, with 20% off available during the preorder period.
The new router isn't actually all that new - it utilizes the same modem and router hardware that is in the ConnecT 5G, released earlier this year, minus the TV antenna, in an indoor enclosure.
Here is a review of the specs:
The X62 modem supports all major LTE and sub-6 6GHz 5G bands used in North America:
- LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 46, 48, 66, 71
- 5G: n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n13, n14, n18, n20,n25, n26, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n70, n71, n75, n76, n77, n78, n79
While the Basestation 5G shares the same modem and router, it supports many more cellular bands than the ConnecT 5G.
As we suspected with the Connect 5G, the older router internals have a low throughput for cellular connections. The spec sheet for the Basestation 5G says 5G connections are capped at 300 Mbps. While that provides plenty of speed for almost any use case, the old hardware limits the modem's peak performance.
With the older internals, the Basestation only supports the older Wi-Fi 5 standard. Like the ConnecT, the Basestation 5G supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for Wi-Fi LAN connections, but only the 2.4 GHz for Wi-Fi-as-WAN connections. We hope that Winegard will add 5GHz capability in the future.
The router comes with two Gigabit ports (1x LAN, 1x WAN), and the Winegard firmware advertises Starlink compatibility.
Additionally, the Basestation 5G supports Winegard's RV Halo system of smart sensors for RVs.
The Basestation is also available with a Cat-4 LTE modem for $399.

Key Mobile Internet Related Considerations:
- The Basestation 5G is an indoor 5G cellular router with an X62 modem priced at $799. The Cat-4 LTE version is $399.
- It utilizes the same hardware as the ConnecT 5G rooftop router, only with an indoor form factor.
- Despite being a 5G router, the specs state the throughput is capped at 300 Mbps, below what the modem can deliver.
