MOFI Network is a router manufacturer that has been part of the mobile internet space for a long time, and we've reviewed many of its products over the years.
The MOFI 6500 series of routers is the latest base platform, launched in early 2024. MOFI has offered a wide variety of modem options with this router, and the latest is a dual 5G model that uses two X62 modems for $799, the MOFI6500-5GXxLTE-RM520-HP-DUAL.
The router has eight cellular antenna ports, four for each modem, and a single nano SIM slot for each modem.
The router also offers Wi-Fi 6 and includes five Wi-Fi antenna ports. This router has a lot of antennas and antenna ports!
While MOFI is known for making competent hardware, we've found that the firmware can be buggy and frustrating to use. It also lacks many advanced features that many in our mobile audience look for, particularly multi-WAN options.
So while this new dual-5G modem model offers a lot of hardware potential for multi-WAN, especially if you include Ethernet and USB WAN options, the only multi-WAN features are still basic failover and load balancing.
Key Mobile Internet Related Considerations:
- The MOFI 6500 router now comes with the option for dual X62 5G modems
- The MOFI firmware offers basic multi-WAN support, such as failover and load balancing, and lacks advanced multi-WAN options
