The Wireless Haven is out with a new model of its cellular adapter, which it's calling the InvisaGig v1.2.
The basic design and even the case and modem remain largely the same, and the new version is an iterative upgrade that includes some nice additional features, all for $50 less than the original 1.0 model at $599. The 1.0 model is no longer available.
For the big picture overview of the Invisagig and how it works, please see our Gear Center review as well as our article on the 1.0 model.
But to summarize, this is a cellular adapter and not a router. It's designed to do one thing - provide a cellular WAN connection to other devices via Ethernet. Thus, it has no routing, LAN, or Wi-Fi capabilities. It can be used as a WAN source for another router or can be directly plugged into a laptop or PC for single-device connectivity.
While the modem remains the same, a mainstream X62 - here are the changes to the 1.2 model:
- Power is now provided via USB-C instead of a 12V barrel connector. This should provide more flexible power options.
- The device now supports dual-SIMs with 2x Nano SIM ports and upgraded firmware that supports limited failover capabilities.
- There is now a switch to turn off the LEDs for those who don't like blinking lights in their RV or boat.
- Some antenna accessories are now included - a "boomerang" mount for the included paddle antennas, and short cable extensions.
- InvisaGig says there are various internal upgrades and unspecified beefed-up electronics.
- The firmware was also upgraded, not only for dual-SIM support, but also enabling a data telemetry feature to allow monitoring of a bunch of signal and data metrics.
While it's a bit disappointing that the InvisiGig didn't get a modem upgrade, it's nice to see some non-trivial feature advances come with a reduced price compared to the previous model.
Owners of 1.0 devices can utilize the new firmware and also have, for a limited time, the option to get a trade-in credit to upgrade to the latest model.

Key Mobile Internet Related Considerations:
- The InvisiGig 1.2 is an upgrade over the previous 1.0 model, but still utilizes an X62 cellular modem
- As a cellular adapter that provides a cellular WAN connection via Ethernet, it does not provide any routing capability or Wi-Fi
- The InvisaGig is an option to consider for those needing another cellular WAN connection with advanced configuration capabilities
